MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas University and its athletic department mourn the tragic loss of senior football player Brandon Hobdy, who was fatally shot in an off-campus incident in the early hours of Sunday, August 24.
 
"Everyone at Southern Arkansas is deeply saddened by this tragic news" said SAU Athletic Director Steve Browning. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Hobdy family in particular and to all those that are affected by this tragedy."
 
Hobdy, 23, a native of Garland, Texas, played wide receiver on the SAU football team and was slated to be a significant contributor for the Mulerider offense this coming season.
 
Last season was Hobdy's first at SAU after he transferred in from Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, Calif.
